The Kanawha Coalition for Community Health Improvement and the Wellness Council of WV congratulate the Kanawha Valley for achieving the Well City USA designation. The Kanawha Valley joins an elite list of only six other cities and regions in the nation to win the Well City recognition. This award is due to the efforts of 23 designated Well Workplaces in the Kanawha Valley that employ more than 21,000 people. These organizations have wellness programs that meet national standards set by the Wellness Councils of America. This significant accomplishment showcases the commitment of these workplaces to employee health and wellbeing. Many of these workplaces are already seeing the benefits of worksite wellness programs-reduced absenteeism, increased productivity and reduced stress. This recognition is also a tribute to our valley which offers wonderful amenities such as excellent hiking trails, a variety of outdoor activities and a clean environment. The Well City USA award showcases the efforts of our business community towards accomplishing our mission-to measurably improve the health of the residents of KC.
